Self Portraits 2020 onwards
Originally started as a way to keep doing photography during the first lockdown last March. I have continued to practice trying different things, during the second and now third lockdown.
Whilst, the project was meant to have ended on the 5th of April 2021. I do still occasionally, add some new photos, when I have been experimenting on myself.
There are various motivations for shooting self-portraits. During Covid, it started as a way to keep in practice, but soon became much more creative. Since then, it is often about technique, and experimentation, but occasionally still, it is about the story telling.
Over the years, I have been shooting self-portraits, hopefully the viewer will see that my work has evolved, in some ways technically, but also am far less hampered by rules of photography, and that maybe the biggest lesson I have learnt. Knowing the rules is great, but knowing how to break the rules, is even better.
