So we are technically two weeks into this odyssey, and it has been a bit challenging. This is very different to any other course I have been on. There are only 6 of us in the class, which means the teaching is a lot more intimate. The course is very front-loaded, so whilst most students are just getting used to lectures, we are deep into learning. Mainly about education and learning to learn.

With the university being around 30 miles away from where I live, I tend to travel to the university early. Most would think that with lessons at 10am, arriving at 9am would be reasonable, but life isn’t that simple. Sadly, Taddington Roundabout, the junction I need to get onto the M2 from where I live, is a nightmare in the mornings. The first day, I left my home at 7am, and I didn’t get onto the M2 until 7:45am, which is less than 2 miles, and the first mile, I did in 5 minutes.

If I leave earlier, that time dramatically changes. Instead of taking 45 minutes, it takes me 10 minutes, and I can get into Canterbury by 7:25am or earlier, with a 20-minute walk from where I park my car to the library, where I can get any work needing to be done finished, or do reading. Classes finish at 5pm, but normally I head back to the library for a couple of hours to do homework. This means I normally get home at around 8pm, which means my days are incredibly long.

The good thing with all this is that I get more work done when working at the library than I do at home, where there are so many distractions. The bad news is, I am exhausted from spending so much time doing work, but fortunately, the ADHD medication is making a difference. I am on a very low dose of Elvance 20mg, and whilst it isn’t great when I have little to do, when I am busy, it allows me to concentrate much better.

The classes themselves have been mixed. In some areas, I struggle; in other areas, I am doing very well. My memory makes remembering challenging, but my creativity allows me to come ot come up with various unique ideas.
